Damaged Vinal Siding Fix

Damaged vinal siding fix. Slide the zip tool along the bottom edge to release the vinyl siding from the piece below it. It ll better match the house than brand new siding. There are several ways to repair damaged vinyl siding depending on the extent of the damage. Use a hammer to pull the nails holding the first course of damaged siding to the wall.
These types of repairs are usually to replace pieces of missing siding or to repair minimal damage. Pull siding away from house and cut through the bottom edge with aviation snips. Cut piece of faded siding from an inconspicuous spot to replace the damaged section. Run a bead of adhesive caulk around the back of the patch and set the patch in place top image.
Allow it to completely dry then use a razor scraper to cut the excess caulk flush with the outside of the siding. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to remove the remaining damaged siding panels. Use framing square and utility knife to cut through face of siding. For larger dents cracks or holes start by cutting out the damaged segment of siding and removing it with a zip tool.
Squirt a generous dollop of exterior caulking that matches the color of the siding into the hole. The vinyl siding zip tool will save you loads of time. Starting at one end of the damaged piece push the end of the zip siding removal tool up under the siding until you feel it hook the bottom lip. The patch should be larger than the piece you removed.
Cut a replacement panel that is 4 inches longer than the damaged section. Use a table saw or circular saw to cut a patch from a good piece of vinyl. Apply caulk apply generous beads of butyl or gutter caulk on the adjacent siding about 1 2 inch from the edges of the cutout area. To repair vinyl siding fill in minor imperfections with caulk and then paint it to match the rest of the siding once it cures.
Then lock the siding back into place. Pull down on the siding to disengage it from the course below then remove the damaged piece of siding. Use a flat pry bar to remove the nails and the damaged section of siding.
